Fireworks, food and 5Ks highlight Independence Day celebrations around Anderson County

It’s time to don the Red, White and Blue and head to an Anderson County town near you for some 4th of July fun.

Live music, food trucks, 5Ks and parades all are on tap for the Independence Day weekend, kicking off with America’s 5K Saturday morning in downtown Anderson and continuing through Monday with the 8th Annual Freedom Dream Walk/Run to benefit the Outdoor Dream Foundation.

JULY 3

America’s 5K, Anderson

Presented by First Flight Alliance, this event includes a 5K and a free 1-Mile Fun Run. Pre-registration ends today, with onsite registration July 2 and July 3 in Carolina Wren Park. Go HERE for more information.

Freedom Fest, Pelzer

The Town of Pelzer is hosting an Independence Day celebration on Saturday that includes a 5K fun run, old-fashioned games, food trucks, vendors and a patriotic parade. All proceeds will benefit the restoration of the town’s historic hospital.

The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Freedom Fest 5K Fun Run, which begins and ends at the Pelzer Auditorium. Field Day games and a picnic with food trucks and vendors follows at 11 a.m. at Monkey Park.

At 5 p.m., the Towns of Pelzer and West Pelzer will host a patriotic parade that begins at the West Pelzer Fire Department and ends at the bridge. Follow @PelzerSC on Facebook for updates.

Independence Day Celebration, Williamston

The Town of Williamston will celebrate the 4th on Saturday with food truck vendors in Mineral Spring Park throughout the afternoon and live music by Juke Box 45 on the amphitheater stage at 7:00 p.m. The Fire Department will have a Cruise-In with a 50/50 drawing and raffle, along with fire truck rides on the 1936 fire truck from 5:00-10:00 p.m. in the parking lot behind McDonalds.

The town’s first annual Golf Cart Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. from the Ace Hardware parking lot. Prizes will be awarded. Fireworks will start at dark. Follow @TownOfWilliamston on Facebook for updates.

Annual Independence Day Celebration, Honea Path 

Vendors will be on hand Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. at the Honea Path Rec Center for an annual Independence Day Celebration. For more information, email 4HPEvents@gmail.com.

JULY 4

July 4th Kiddie Parade, Pendleton

Decorate your strollers, trikes, scooters and wagons for a parade in Veterans Park. No bicycles, please, since the trail is narrow. Participants are asked to assemble at the flag poles at 3:30 p.m. for the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. SC Rep. Jonathan Hill will speak. Call (931) 215-3068 for more information.

Freedom Dream Walk/Run, Anderson

The 8th Annual Freedom Dream Walk/Run to benefit the Outdoor Dream Foundation will kick off at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Grady’s Great Outdoors on Clemson Boulevard in Anderson.
