Starting a small business? Mayor Terence Roberts offers advice

Date

Starting a small business is hard enough, but where do you turn to remove some of the risk?

Anderson Mayor Terence Roberts, owner of Terence Roberts State Farm, sat down with Your Carolina’s Megan Heidlberg and Jamarcus Gaston to discuss running a small business.

“In our city, we’re trying to incubate and create jobs for people. On the other end, I’ve been a small business owner for three decades. It’s tough starting a business. You know, actually, statistics say 20% of the businesses that start will only survive that first year, and of that 20%, only 10% will last more than 10 years,” Roberts explained.

In the video above, Roberts answers the following questions:
What are some of the first steps in a business setup?
What is the importance of networking?
How did you find support?
How do you protect yourself and your business?
