Editor’s Note: Anderson SC Living is partnering with Rettew Creative to expand the audience for Storefront Stories as area businesses continue to rebuild from COVID-19. Bobby Rettew and digital media students from Anderson University’s Communications program recorded the first Storefront Story on April 22, 2021, and since have captured the experiences of almost 30 downtown businesses. Look for a Storefront Story every Wednesday here at Anderson SC Living.
Katharine Marie Weddings is a bridal boutique and wedding planning company located in downtown Anderson. The company is dedicated to helping every bride who walks through the door make easy decisions and lifelong memories surrounding their big day.
The business was opened in 2019 by Allie Walker, an Anderson native who followed her dream into the wedding industry. The business is named in honor of Walker’s great, great Aunt Katharine who had a bridal shop and her late mother whose middle name was Marie.
Katharine Marie Weddings continued to grow during the coronavirus pandemic, with Walker able to bring on new employees.
“It taught me to stay flexible and stay creative,” Walker said.
With a commitment of service to the community, Katharine Marie Weddings supports one local and one international charity, Haven of Rest Women’s Program in Anderson and Hope United Foundation in Honduras.
This video story was crafted and produced by digital media students from Anderson University’s Communication Program. As an Assistant Professor of Communication and owner of Rettew Creative, Bobby Rettew led a team of students in the COM 351 Corporate Video Production class to create these stories. This project provided a unique opportunity where students were able to leverage their technical video production skills along with enhancing their soft skills by interacting with clients and connecting with the downtown Anderson business community.
