Anderson Arts Center gearing up for 46th annual juried show, accepting submissions in March

Date

The Anderson Arts Center is gearing up for its 46th Annual Juried Show, one of the longest-running juried shows in the state of South Carolina.

Submissions for the juried show – an exhibit where multiple pieces of artwork are submitted, and a juror (judge) selects which pieces that will be included – will be accepted at the Arts Center March 25-27, 2021.

The Annual Juried show welcomes submissions of artists in nearly any medium, including painting, pastel, drawing, sculpture, pottery, basketry, graphic, wood, etc. In recent years, the Anderson Arts Center has received more than 400 pieces of art for this event with artists from at least four different states. Exhibit dates are April 16 – May 20.

The distinguished juror for this show is Cecelia Lucas Stucker. A native of South Carolina, Stucker has been part of the international art scene for 14 years. She founded CC: Curating & Collections in 2012, shaping five private collections in Europe and the United States, as well as curating socially minded exhibitions for galleries and museums in multiple countries.

Thanks to many generous donors and supporters, the Juried Show offers thousands of dollars in awards to artists selected for the show. The grand prize, The David Vandiver Best of Show, is a $2,000 award.

Through a partnership with the City of Anderson, the Arts Center also hosts SculpTOUR in conjunction with the Juried Show. Outdoor sculpture artists are invited to participate, and this portion of the competition allows for up to six outdoor sculptures to be juried into a year-long outdoor exhibition with cash prizes of $1,000 each.

Award donors will have priority in viewing the artwork, and there will be viewings by appointment before the show opens to the public on April 16.

Artists interested in submitting work should visit the Arts Center website. For more information, email info@andersonarts.org or call 864.222.2787.
