The Anderson Arts Center is calling all artist alumni of Anderson University for a special exhibition set to open on Dec. 10.
The Anderson University graduates-only exhibit welcomes a variety of mediums, 2-D and 3-D work. The multi-medium, multi-generational show is designed to highlight the many talented artists who have graduated from the university, according to Anderson Arts Center Executive Director April Cameron.
“The South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University draws some of the most talented students in the state and beyond,” Cameron said. “This program has helped so many to hone their talents to become excellent artists. By hosting an exhibit featuring Anderson University alumni, we are helping to showcase those who finessed their skills right in our own backyard.”
The first-ever Anderson University alumni art show is the extension of a partnership between the college and the arts center that has existed for several years.
“We are fortunate to partner with Anderson University each year to hold their ‘Senior Show’ in our historic Carnegie gallery, and we hope some of these past seniors will participate in the alumni show to be held in our warehouse galleries,” Cameron added.
Dr. Jo Carol Mitchell-Rogers, Associate Dean of The South Carolina School of the Arts and Chair of AU’s Department of Art & Design, said the school is thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase some of its most talented alums.
“Many of our Fine Arts alumni have moved on to graduate programs and many more are successful working artists,” Mitchell-Rogers said. “It’s exciting to have our graduates showcased locally. It strengthens our partnership with the Anderson Arts Center and the Anderson community.”
