Storefront Stories: City Seed at the Station

Date

Editor’s Note: Anderson SC Living is partnering with Rettew Creative to expand the audience for Storefront Stories as area businesses continue to rebuild from COVID-19. Bobby Rettew and digital media students from Anderson University’s Communications program recorded the first Storefront Story on April 22, 2021 and have since captured the experiences of almost 30 downtown businesses. Look for a Storefront Story every Wednesday here at Anderson SC Living.

Continuing the more than 70-year legacy of the former City Seed store on Tribble Street in downtown Anderson, City Seed at the Station has added potted gardens, gardening classes and gift items to the offerings of the once traditional seed and supply store.

While COVID-19 had the staff at City Seed running a bit ragged, owner Donna LeBrun said their thoughts were always with those in the medical field.

“We have lots of friends in the hospital industry and they’re pushing along,” LeBrun said. “Even though we’re husting inside, I just think about them all the time and they’re fearless.”

In addition to seed packets and garden tools, visitors to City Seed at the Station can also find large and small plants, and unique gifts such as tea towels, scrunchies and aprons. LeBrun also holds Make n’ Take classes for eight to 35 attendees, as well as public and private parties.
