Editor’s Note: Anderson SC Living is partnering with Rettew Creative to expand the audience for Storefront Stories as area businesses continue to rebuild from COVID-19. Bobby Rettew and digital media students from Anderson University’s Communications program recorded the first Storefront Story on April 22, 2021, and since have captured the experiences of almost 30 downtown businesses. Look for a Storefront Story every Wednesday here at Anderson SC Living.
The coronavirus pandemic revealed the power of social media to the owners of Pita Way of Anderson, the American and Mediterranean restaurant that opened on N. Main Street in 2011.
“When Covid-19 started, all I could think was, ‘how are my parents going to stay in business,’” said Sarah Fallous, whose father, Sam, owns Pita Way.
Fallous immediately went to social media and recruited her friends to spread the word about the locally owned restaurant and its delicious subs, sandwiches and Pita Way specialties like hummus, gyros and Tabbouli salads.
“It was amazing,” Fallous said. “I feel like business has actually picked up more than before (the pandemic) because everyone in the community is telling about the amazing food we have here,” she said. “It has been such a blessing to all of us.”
