Iva – The small town of Iva lies in Anderson County near the Abbeville County line. Incorporated in 1904, Iva was founded by Dr. Augustus Cook and settled in the late 18th century as a railroad shipping station called Cook’s Station. When he discovered another community called Cook’s Station in South Carolina, he changed the town’s name to Iva in honor of his daughter, Iva Cook Bryson.

Residents of Iva enjoy nearby Lake Secession and proximity to Lake Thurmond, Lake Russell and Lake Greenwood.
