Anderson County Disabilities and Special Needs Board gets help from Brett Crowe tournament

A $10,000 check from the Brett Crowe Memorial Golf Tournament to the Anderson County Disabilities and Special Needs Board will help make birthdays and holidays more special for those in the organization’s residential program.

“Many of our friends living in the 17 group homes throughout Anderson County have no family whatsoever,” said ACDSN Board Member Mike Cannon. “These funds will ensure that each of them receives a present on their birthday and at Christmas.”

Tournament funds also be used to provide dinner for group home residents following this year’s drive-thru Christmas parade.

“Last year’s Christmas parade was so well received that we’ll be doing that again this year, but changing the time to 4 p.m.,” Cannon said. “With Covid still an issue, we’ll provide dinners for our friends to take back home with them so that they can social distance.”

The primary goal of ACDSNB’s residential program is to support independent living among the county’s special needs adults. Presently, there are 17 group homes and a supported living program serving about 100 persons in Anderson, Honea Path, Belton and Williamston.

Anderson County Disabilities and Special Needs Board is one of several charitable organizations to receive funds from the 2021 Brett Crowe Memorial Golf Tournament, with The Bridge Recovery, Shalom Home in Belton, Haven of Rest Ministries and Eureka Baptist Church also receiving donations.

Created in memory of a beloved son, grandson, nephew and friend who passed away too soon in 2014, the Brett Crowe Memorial Golf Tournament honors Brett’s love for life and golf through fellowship and fun.
