Anderson Mall hosts Women’s History Month events in March

Date

Anderson Mall is celebrating Women’s History Month in March, partnering with two of its small business owners, Linda Faye Pickens and Kim Sams, to stage events that recognize the contributions of women to the community and society.

In addition, the mall this month welcomes a new lead artist for its Canvas Project, Shea Abramo Money.

On Saturday, March 13, Lyndon’s Academy of the Arts and M.A.D.D. Talents Inc. will host Anderson’s Got Talent “M.A.D.D. Talent” from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the mall’s Center Court. The showcase will highlight Anderson area young people with talents in music, art, dance, and drama. There will be several youth vendors and organizations, live performances and much more.

“It is very important that we encourage all youth in the community to follow their dreams and turn it into reality with hard work, dedication, and most importantly, have fun,” Pickens said.

Women’s Empowerment Conference coming March 30

Additionally, Women’s Empowerment Incorporated will hold its 12th annual Women’s Empowerment Conference on Saturday, March 20, at 9 a.m. The live virtual event will feature Dr. Kimberly Moore, Min. Kathy Borders and Dr. Chaka Smith.

Following the virtual celebration, Northern Suga will partner with Anderson Mall for a Women’s Empowerment “Spring Fling” from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event will include women business owners and leaders, resources, demonstrations, vendors, and much more. Similar to an expo, the event will start at the Center Court and work its way down to the Food Court.

“Being surrounded by women who are supporting one another and learning from each other is how women empower other women,” Sams said.

Canvas Project continues

Anderson Mall has successfully brought the community together through the Canvas Project, a series of wall murals and parking space designs. Artist Shea Abramo Money will lead the second phase of the project, which is parking spaces with sponsors.

A talented and driven local artist in the community, Money has an extensive and evolving career with an established portfolio of original and creative artwork.

Anderson Mall is committed to supporting the Anderson community by providing unique experiences year-round. The safety of guests and tenants remains a top priority.

“We are passionate about serving as a safe gathering space for our community, and are proud to be a place where families, friends, and visitors can come together to be a positive force in a thriving community,” said General Manager Chunsta Miller.

In response to the continued need to address COVID-19, Anderson Mall has proactively implemented additions to its Code of
