Rotary Club of Greater Anderson helps build Habitat house in honor of longtime member Bob Williams

Date

The Rotary Club of Greater Anderson recently spent an afternoon working on a Habitat for Humanity house in memory of Bob Williams, a long-time member of the club who passed away in 2020.

An ardent supporter of Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County, Williams left a generous bequest to help build a home for an Anderson area family in need. Club members honored Williams’ wishes with sweat equity by cutting lumber, building walls, installing house wrap and other duties as assigned by Habitat building leaders. The house is located off Highway 28 Bypass.

Williams joined the Rotary Club of Greater Anderson in June 2007 and was an active member until his death in February of last year. He served several terms as a board member, was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow (PHF+8) and a Paul Harris Society member, an organization honoring the founder of Rotary International.

Always first to give to any fundraiser or service project, Williams wholeheartedly supported the work of the club and was the first to sponsor the Rotary Club of Greater Anderson’s Dancing for Our Heroes event.

During his career, Williams owned and managed an apartment complex. He was a board member of the Anderson Cancer Association, Habitat for Humanity and The Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium, where he was board chair. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson where he served as a deacon, elder and Sunday School superintendent.
