At 56,000 areas, Lake Hartwell is one of the Southeast’s largest and most popular recreation lakes. A favorite among anglers, the lake is inhabited by striped, hybrid and largemouth bass, crappie, bream and catfish. In addition to great fishing, Lake Hartwell State Park offers two boat ramps and a courtesy dock, 115 paved campsites for RV or tent camping, a 140-foot fishing pier and .75-mile nature trail. Camper cabins and walk-in tent sites are also available.
Lake Russell is a 26,650-acre lake bordering Anderson and Abbeville counties in South Carolina and Elbert County in Georgia. Another favorite among fisherman, Lake Russell is inhabited with spotted and striped bass, black crappie and largemouth bass. While you’re at the lake, take advantage of the amenities at Lake Russell State Park including biking, boating, hiking, seasonal kayak and canoe rental, and a disc golf course. For traditional golfers, the park also features the 18-hole Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course.
