14th Annual Dancing for Our Heroes fundraiser is June 24

Date

The 14th annual Dancing for Our Heroes fundraiser, hosted by the Rotary Club of Greater Anderson, will be held Thursday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center of Anderson.

The signature event of the Rotary Club of Greater Anderson, Dancing for Our Heroes has become one of the largest charitable fundraisers in Anderson County. It will support 10 different local organizations this year, as well as Rotary International’s Polio Plus, a program that strives to eradicate polio.

The most recent Dancing for Our Heroes fundraiser, held in 2019, raised more than $200,000. At the conclusion of the 2019 event, The Rotary Club of Greater Anderson had raised more than $1 million total for local organizations in the community.

A dance competition modeled on the popular ABC television show Dancing with the Stars, local charities compete in two ways: by raising the most money for their organization prior to and during the event; and by performing the best dance of the evening, according to a panel of judges.

During the competition, each organization performs a two-minute dance based on the annual theme. This year’s theme is One Hit Wonders, with dancers selecting their music based on an artist that had one radio hit.

In addition to the performances, the event includes dinner and drinks, as well as a live and silent auction.
