Anderson will kick off October with First Friday and Fresh Taste, two events designed to showcase what downtown has to offer.
Presented by City of Anderson Economic Development, First Friday on October 1 will feature street performers and live entertainment along Main Street, but the highlight of the evening is the opportunity to shop until at least 8 p.m., according to City of Anderson Business Education and Event Manager Caroline Gaddis.
“First Friday gives residents that may not have an opportunity to get downtown during the day the chance to see what our downtown merchants have to offer,” Gaddis said. “The whole point of First Friday is to allow people to come downtown after work and enjoy retailers that otherwise may be closed.”
Downtown restaurants will have another chance to showcase their offerings during Fresh Taste, Anderson’s version of Restaurant Week set for October 5-9.
Participating restaurants have paired with local farms to provide a Fresh Taste dish during the week for $5 or less. At the end of the week, consumers can vote for their favorites dish via @downtownanderson on Facebook. The winning restaurant will receive $500 and the event’s Giant Fork plaque. Second place receives $300 and third place, $100, Gaddis said.
Restaurants participating in Fresh Taste 2021 are:
- Groucho’s Deli
- Earle Street Kitchen and Bar
- MaKi Sushi Bar & Bistro
- Summa Joe’s Searing Pans
- Mr. Rivers Breakfast Joint
- Sullivan’s Metropolitan Grill
- The Uptown
- Figs Cafe & Farmacy
- Taco Loco
