Every fall, thousands of families get to experience family fun in the country when Denver Downs Farm presents its annual Fall Festival & Corn Maze. From picking pumpkins and pig races to running hay bales and playing in the straw barn, city slickers can take part in more than 35 fun-filled activities that farm kids take for granted.

“Denver Downs started as a cotton farm, transitioned to a dairy farm, and today is still a working farm devoted to agritourism and entertainment,” said Catherine Davis, one of the farm’s fourth generation owners. “We love sharing our rich heritage of farming and the importance of agriculture in our everyday lives.”

Owned and operated by the Garrison family of Anderson County since 1869, Denver Downs is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 900-acre farm is a landmark on Clemson Boulevard that has welcomed thousands of school children and families over the years.

A few things will change in 2020 due to COVID concerns. For example, event organizers made the decision to suspend hayrides this season due to close seating. And the corn maze has been enlarged from 10 acres to 12 to allow greater social distancing.

“Our number one goal is to provide a safe place for our guests to visit,” Davis said. ” We have confidence we can provide this with social distancing of our guests outdoors at our 140-acre field.”

The focal point of Denver Downs’ 2020 Fall Festival is the 12-acre corn maze which this year celebrates the 150th anniversary of Denver Downs Farm.

Visitors can navigate the maze to find 12 hidden checkpoints or just have fun getting lost. Visitors are encouraged to bring glow items and flashlights to help find their way through the maze after dark.

Activities include a jumbo jumping pillow, cow train, zipline, giant spider web, corn hole, pig and duck races, giant tube slide, straw barn, corn box and much more.

COVID Safety in 2020

Event organizers have confidence in providing proper social distancing of guests outdoors in its 140-acre field and have increased the size of the 2020 maze from 10 acres to 12 acres. Cleaning and sanitizing frequently touched surfaces will be a major focus. Guests will be assessed on entry with temperatures being taken and brief health screening. Guests are encouraged to use social distancing at the field and will not be required to wear masks outside at the farm, however, some may choose to. Employees will be wearing masks. Due to close seating, hayrides have been suspended this season.
