More than 1,400 free backpacks will be given away this Saturday, Aug. 7, when Healthy Blue SC, Anderson Mall and Dillard’s team up for a Kids Day Back-to-School Bash from Noon until 4 p.m. at Anderson Mall.
The first 100 school children to arrive at the event will receive not just a backpack, but one filled with school supplies and a discount on embroidery from Lids. Remaining school supplies will be given out as supplies last, according to Anderson Mall Marketing Director Anastasia Cornish.
Sponsored by Healthy Blue SC, the free back-to-school bash also will include police and fire department safety training, coloring and craft activities, sweet treats from Northern Suga, costume characters, free books and free COVID testing. Dillard’s will stage a fashion show featuring back-to-school fashions and The Block 96.3 – 104.5 – 107.7 will broadcast live from the event.
