Market Theatre’s Mobile Production Unit will perform the one-person show Every Brilliant Thing at several branches of the Anderson County Library as part of a mission to bring the arts to everyone.
This stirring one-person show starring Antoinette Hall will be held February 10 at the Pendleton Library, February 24 at the Powdersville Library, and March 3 at the Belton Library. All performances are free and appropriate for older teens and adults. All shows begin at 7 p.m.
Every Brilliant Thing is the inaugural production of the Market Theatre’s Mobile Production Unit, a show that travels to underserved parts of the community to provide a fresh, accessible, quality arts experience. Not only is the Market Theatre taking this show on the road, it also will be performed on the theatre’s main stage February 4-7
The play by Duncan MacMillan and Johnny Donahoe is centered on a child who attempts to cheer her mother by creating a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world: 1. Ice cream. 2. Kung Fu movies. 3. Burning things. 4. Laughing so hard you shoot milk out your nose. 5. Construction cranes. 6. Me.
It is billed as “A play about depression and the lengths we will go for those we love.” With audience participation throughout, the script is both extremely moving and incredibly funny.
“I’m thrilled for the library to be part of Market Theatre’s new Mobile Production Unit’s performances,” said Library Assistant Director Annette Greenway. “Providing culturally enriching materials and experiences to the community is part of the library’s mission, so it’s a perfect fit.”
