The annual Youth Art Month Exhibit is open at Anderson Arts Center, featuring the works of elementary, middle and high school students from public and private schools and home school associations.

An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 27, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., with awards presented at 2 p.m.

More than 600 entries typically are submitted, and approximately 35 students receive awards for their work. First, second and third place award recipients receive cash prizes and several honorable mention ribbons are presented. Approximately 50 pieces of artwork are selected for an extended exhibition at AnMed Health, in the Gallery Cafe at McDougald Funeral Home, and the Anderson campus of Tri County Technical College.

Along with student artwork, a districtwide teacher show is on display in the center’s Atrium Gallery. Art teachers from all five public school districts are invited to participate, and this exhibit opens with a gallery reception on Thursday, March 3, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

In addition to the Youth Art Month exhibition, students of T.L. Hanna’s art department will present a Wearable Art Exhibition on Saturday, February 26, at 7 p.m. The show will be presented at the Anderson Arts Center and tickets are required. Tickets are $10 per person (children under 5 are free) and can be purchased at the T.L. Hanna front office or on the school’s website.

Youth Art Month is sponsored by Anderson Pediatric Dentistry, AnMed Health, McDougald Funeral Home and Tri County Technical College.
