Storefront Stories: Lunchbox Creative

Date

Editor’s Note: Anderson SC Living is partnering with Rettew Creative to expand the audience for Storefront Stories as area businesses continue to rebuild from COVID-19. Bobby Rettew and digital media students from Anderson University’s Communications program recorded the first Storefront Story on April 22, 2021, and since have captured the experiences of almost 30 downtown businesses. Look for a Storefront Story every Wednesday here at Anderson SC Living.

Caryn Scheving, co-owner of Lunchbox Creative, draws inspiration from Anderson’s small business owners who supported each other during the hardest days of the coronavirus pandemic.

Opened in Anderson more than a year ago by Scheving and Noah Taylor, the design and web company helps small businesses, nonprofits, individuals, startups and corporations with graphic design, website and social media needs.

“Right about the time that all of this was really starting to feel heavy on our community and businesses were starting to close and people were starting to get scared, I got a call from Heather at Palmetto Screen Print and Embroidery,” Scheving explained. “She said she had a crazy idea to help businesses and she proposed working together on a t-shirt.”

The idea for #AndersonStrong immediately came to mind, Scheving said. Lunchbox Creative developed the t-shirt design and Palmetto Screen Print and Embroidery produced the shirts that were sold at cost to small businesses. Business then sold them to the public to raise operating funds in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I draw inspiration from the fact that businesses are out there supporting each other however they can,” Scheving said. “They’re cross-promoting on social media, they’re working together, they’re creating shirts, they’re selling shirts. I find that really inspiring and exciting to know that we live in a community like that.”
